At last night's AGM, the winners of the BC XC League were announced.

Congratulations to all! Prizes will be in the mail shortly.

(PS this money does NOT come from WCSC coffers...it comes from private donations made by pilots interested in seeing the BC XC League continue.)

Here are the winners of the various categories (best flight):

-Student HG: (none)
-Student PG: Owen Roberton, 121 points from a 22.5 km OR at Bridal.
-Novice HG: (none)
-Novice PG: Jeff Volp, 115 points, 21.3 km triangle at Wasa.
-Intermediate HG: (none)
-Intermediate PG: Martin Henry, 45 points from a 10 km triangle at Bridal.
-Advanced HG: Serge Lamarche, 240 points from a 128 km OR in Golden.
-Advanced PG: Brett Yeates, 196.2 points from a 109 km OD in Golden.

Here are the stats for the 2007 year:

-Total # of flights submitted to the 2007 database: 192 (this equals 3 payments of $50...had we reached 200 flights we would have given out another $50).
-1st flight submitted: Robin Sather on March 14.
-Most flights submitted: Rob Samplonius with 32.
-Longest OD flight submitted: Rob Clarkson (HG) with 146 km in Golden, and Norm Lawlor (PG) with 120.3 km in Golden.
-Longest OR flight submitted: Rob Clarkson (HG) with 143 km in Golden, and Brett Yeates, Nicole McLearn, and Keith MacCullough (PG) with 57 km in Golden.
-Longest triangle flight submitted: Martin Henry (HG) with 127 km from Woodside, and Alex Raymont (PG) with 57 km at Woodside).
-Most different sites flown XC from in BC: Nicole McLearn with 5.

You can see all the results at http://www.westcoastsoaringclub.com/comps/bcxcleague.php

We hope to run the BC XC League again next year. The database for 2008 will be ready in time for the BC XC season to begin (usually early- to mid-March). Any comments or suggestions on how to make the contest more enjoyable, or more user-friendly, etc, are welcome.

Hi,
I would like to thank the donators to encourage cross-country flights. A little bit of money is an nice incentive. It offsets the expenses of flying cross-country and encourage to take the time to enter the flights data.
This year, I had more time to fly and I had a gps. This resulted in more flights on the good days and very precise distance reporting. My best flights were in June. The end of Spring has long days, the mountains are still snowy, the air is unstable. This past Spring, my best fights were facilitated by the clouds, marking the "good" mountains very well. I was able to push it a little further because of it.

I record my cross-country flights in the HPAC Leonardo flight log and my own online cross-country log book (in french) at
http://cf.geocities.com/serge_lamarche/mesdistances.html

Thanks to the WCSC to set and maintain this league up. I wish I'll do as well next year!

Serge
Golden.

You do, but most cheaters don't worry about the unfairness they have. Wink Accept your prize and don't be so modest.
