Vehicle Parking for Woodside

There are several changes in terms of parking if you are flying Woodside. 1. Paraglider pilots should land at Riverside only. The hang glider field is for hang gliders and tandem paraglider flights. 2. The property at Woodside Inn (which we call the Kettle) is off limits. The owner has had a change ...

Re: WCSC ISS amalgamation

I disagree when it comes to Vancouver Island amalgamating with WCSC. The toxic history on the island dates back fifteen years. The situation was never resolved. A few of the key players destroyed a fledgling paragliding community and have never been called out for their actions nor held responsible....

Re: Road to Woodside Launch....

The only problem is the motorized folks will just create new trails around the decommissioned road and create considerable more damage to the area.

Re: Road to Woodside Launch....

When I lived on Vancouver Island our primary site was Mount Prevost. It was gated. The local forestry officer who was employed by the Municipality of North Cowichan/Duncan would lock the gate every summer. It would be locked by the end of June and remain locked until late summer. Done. We pilots did...

Nikita,

Transparency and open discussion is a good thing. It should never be stifled or deleted. Condescension serves no purpose. Build bridges and not walls.

Re: Vandalism on Mt. Woodside

My experience in dealing with vandalism showed three common traits. Vandals are male, stupid, and lazy. Alcohol is a common factor in most instances of vandalism. They will go to great lengths to cause damage and yet are opportunistic. If the situation provides itself without requiring effort they a...

Re: Mid air / Pilot Liability / Fairness

Good morning everyone. I agree with the opinions of the pilots who have responded to your inquiry about responsibility, etc. The fact of the matter is if the aggrieved party feels they are owed compensation due to some non binding 'right of way' law then they can address their case in front of a cou...

Re: Spot Owners....

I got the InReach a year or so ago after being disenchanted and disgruntled and generally pissed off with Spot. A number of Spot owners are pleased with the product and have never had an issue with messaging or coverage. With InReach I am on the $35.00 a month plan year in and year out. Activating a...

Re: Mount Woodside...Firearm Restricted Area

I met with the representative from the District of Kent and we walked the road starting up Mount Woodside. He is having a 3' by 4' sign made up. It will be posted in either of two locations. It will be visible to all people driving up Mount Woodside. In the wording of the sign there will be mention ...
