Re: Old School.....The Canadian-hgpghistory blog....

History of Mt. 7 The Mt. 7 lookout was built in the 50's for forest fire observation by the BC Forest Service. The old road (jeep road) to the Lookout was steep and narrow. Over the years the road was modestly improved for logging trucks and equipment a few kilometers at a time. This made parts of t...

Re: Pemby to Lillooet to Clinton

Hi Scott,

That sounds like a great trip. For some reason I am not able to see that KMZ file. Could you give me a general description please? PM if you prefer.

Sorry for the error about your first flight in that direction. I misunderstood Jim.

Any other people flying that way?

Re: Pemby to Lillooet to Clinton

Hello, Peter Maclaren and I had a mission to fly to Lillooet and beyond in 2012. We asked Jim O. about it and to his knowledge it had only been done three times. He had flown it twice and on one of the trips Scott Flavelle joined him. That week Peter flew to Cache Creek as Claudia mentioned. Then I ...

Rainbow Mountain CA

In this case the 'CA' is refering to CANADA. It seems that you didn't actually check any of the tracks that have been posted there.

There have been some awesome flights from there. Nearly 100 km flights.

Yes Martin, it was a Swift. Yes, it looked the same to me. Yes, that sounds more like the price range that they were all talking about. It came up since Chuck had borrowed it. Yes, it looked like rain falling, or maybe more like hail. Yes, Chuck Berry played a guitar. My buddies name is actually Joh...

A friend of mine, Chuck Berry, in NZ was flying a similar version of that back in 2007. It disintegrated in front of me while I was flying a tandem paraglider. He was doing some steep acrobatics. Here's his description of the incident: “Once the wings broke off, the cockpit cage I was sitting in als...

Hello, We fly quite a bit in winter at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. That's about 7 hours east of Vancouver. The resort allows us to ride the gondola and chairlift to 7200' asl. That is 5700' above the valley. Skis or snowboard are required. Check this link for info: http://revelstokeparagliding.com/v...

Road

Hello Corinne, That is good news for the road. But de-activation might be avoidable. Mt 7 hasn't had active logging for 6 years and it has been designated a 'wilderness road'. We are fortunate to have a BCFS rep that is sympathetic to our cause. After grading this year (that BCFS paid for) the road ...

Radio

Probably correct Martin, I carry my airband radio and often use it. It isn't critical around Golden but around Revelstoke it is a necessity. I also have a license to use it. This past year I called a general traffic advisory as I flew within one mile of the Kamloops control zone. Then had a short ch...

Thank you Club Director. Please forgive me for being a skeptic when it comes to believing things I read on a forum or chat line.
