Spring has sprung at Woodside, March 2017

Postby Claudia » Mon Mar 20, 2017 7:09 am

Great day for flying yesterday and it even was on a weekend (not the usual mid-week nice weather window). Smooth thermals, plenty of lift with a somewhat low cloudbase. A special treat this year when winter seems to stick around for ever. Conditions were suitable for cross-country exploration across the Fraser. Winter wonderland on the Bridal side with the snowline around 1000 meters. Pete and I managed to find a suitable climb on the Bridal side to head back over to Woodside.

More flying yesterday Saturday March 25. Strong wind on launch but it mellowed out later. Not looking very spring-like yet.

Even though March 2017 was the gloomiest on record and April is not much better, there were a few nice flying days... when you can get away on short notice.

These pictures are from Monday, April 24.

Beautiful shots - what are you using for the last trio, camera-wise (GoPro doing stills)?

Thanks! Yes the last three are GoPro (4 silver) stills, video+still setting. A bit post processing in Photoshop. But the JPEGs don't leave much room for tweaking (haven't tried the GoPro 'Protune' format, its supposedly something like RAW).

The other photos are taken with a mirror-less camera but since its not hands-free I miss the really good shots
