Blanchard Fly-in

Post by Nicole »

Fun flying both days with about 60 pilots at the party last night. 40 gliders in the air yesterday until it blew out, and today several pilots went XC. A big thanks to Jeff and Stacey Beck for organizing things and offering their house as basecamp for the weekend!

Pics and details are on my blog for those who want to see what Blanchard has to offer on days where it may be a tad unstable in the Fraser Valley. Just remember to factor in the border lineup if you are crossing from Vancouver!

I took way too long to decide where to go flying today, and then made the wrong call to boot ... glad you guys had a great day!

So how about it? Any of you Bridal desparados have a decent flight? :D

The brave souls at Woodside had a "US Postal" flight:
"Rain or shine, snow or sleet, we deliver your mail! (But sunny days are optional...)"

Bridal was pretty sweet Sunday afternoon, but we had to be patient and wait for the snow storm to stop. Some nice xc flights to elk, butterfly and across the river (in the evening Fraser Valley wind was west but it was also blowing north from Harrison Lake... maybe some kind of convergence?)

30 cm (1 foot for the "imperial" folks) snow on most of the spur logging road.
