Hello,
witnesses report that yesterday a hang glider pilot would have hit either power lines or fence upon landing in Nicholson. The pilot would have been unconscious on the stretcher bringing him to the hospital. The pilot in question would likely be Pedro Pedersen from North Vancouver that was here yesterday.
We are wondering what happened and how he is going today. Anyone has more info?
thanks,
Serge
Accident in Nicholson (Golden)
Re: Accident in Nicholson (Golden)
Hello,
I just contacted Pedro. He approached and went over the power line, too low. He hit (the guide wire broke probably, not electrified) and crashed into the landing. Broken arm, bruised knees and ego.
Always keep a safe distance above obstacles. Wind gradient can drop you fast in approaches, although I don't know if it was a factor in this case.
thanks,
Serge

Thank you Serge.
A good reminder to pilots.
Check out the LZ, assess all obsticles and "what if" scenarios before you fly.

Yep, I got tangled, total pilot error.
I will post an accident report as soon as I get my stuff in order.
And thank all people that where concerned about my health, I recommend don't repeat, is painful.
