Woodside Update March 2022

Post by James604 »

Hi everyone,

General Woodside update here, lots on the go. Most of this info will be in the upcoming newsletter, however as the FSR upgrades have started we need to get the word out.

From approximately March 23 - early April, the forestry company/permitted maintainer for the Woodside FSR will be doing road work. The club is coordinating with them to tie in some spur road work (off the main FSR at the 4km mark).

IMPORTANT RADIO CALLS: If you are going up/down Woodside FSR, PLEASE announce your intent/position on 159.66. Observe signage posted at the FSR entrance regarding instructions and current work. This can change daily.

Please also be very vigilant for traffic on the FSR. The next two weeks-ish are road maintenance, which will be followed by active logging operations. Loaded logging trucks will be frequent.

The WCSC is working the logging company to keep the FSR deactivation post-logging in as good/passable condition as possible. They do need to have water bars on a deactivated road, but we'll try to get theses as mellow as possible (thanks Greg Martin!).

As always post any questions/concerns here or in the whatsapp chats!

Hopefully we'll be able to restore Mother Woodside to it's glory soon!

It seems that road construction has finished, and the radio channel is RR-01 now (150.080MHz).

At least I didn't see any other signs at the entrance last Sunday.

BLASTIN at Woodside Update MAY 2022

Post by pep »

ATTENTION
OK fellow pilots I just got of the phone as well. As Jim says they will be blasting for the next couple of weeks and they are starting to load logging trucks on Monday. So there will be a sign posted to call on rr1 and they are working 6 days a week. No Sundays . That being said these trucks can not stop when they are on there way down. You must radio up
